Wastewater Treatment System Modifications
Owner: Precision Twist Drill
Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin
A sampling program conducted at this facility indicated
that the molybdenum concentration in the wastewater generated from
the Owners aqueous cleaning machines was sufficient to cause
the elevated molybdenum concentrations being observed in the City
of Rhinelanders treatment plant biosolids. Gannett Fleming,
Inc. (GF Inc.) performed bench-scale testing of the Owners
wastewater and established an effective physical/chemical treatment
process by which greater than 90 percent of total molybdenum was
removed. It was determined that by instituting this treatment process,
the Owner would be eliminated as a source of molybdenum in the
Citys treatment works biosolids. Therefore, under a separate
contract with the Owner, GF Inc. designed a full-scale wastewater
treatment system consisting of flow equalization, chemical treatment,
filtration through a filter press, and pH neutralization. The integration
of a Programmable Logic Controller into the control system allows
operation of the wastewater treatment system either automatically
or manually. GFPDC provided construction/installation services
for the complete wastewater treatment system.
GFPDC's CM@Risk Services:
- Negotiating with, hiring, and coordinating
the structural, mechanical, and electrical subcontractors required
for the job
